High above the Earth's hazy atmosphere, the Hubble Space Telescope has literally opened up a new window on the Universe and is returning images and data that are amazing and astounding astronomers. This fully revised and updated book presents astounding pictures straight from the telescope, giving readers an exciting and unique view of the universe and revealing how Hubble keeps a watchful eye on our local space neighbourhood, as well as remote solar systems. The images show, in unprecidented detail, stars being born and in their final death throes, evidence of awsome black holes and galactic collisions, and new solar systems in the making. An expert and lively commentary by two of the world's leading popular astronomy writers complements the stunning images, making this book the essential package for anyone who wants to understand how the universe looks and works.

Editorial Reviews
Review
A collection of the reproduction, with an accompanying text by Robin Kerrod, the author of a string of excellent books on astronomy aimed at a young readership. His descriptions and explanations are a model of clarity. This is a book about the Hubble, and its photographs do not date: they are a stirring reminder of the achievements of the designers and engineers who brought this fantastic instrument to life and sent it into space, and of the astronauts who maintain it. --RPS Journal

Breathtaking
This book has been worth every penny! The pictures are amazing, and the choice of stating with us and moving out in distance to the edge of the the known universe is inspired. Everyone I have shown it to has found it hard to put down. It doesn't contain a lot of information, but this makes it an ideal introduction to the wonders out there.
brilliant book on the universe
This is a well written book on the hubble space telescope with plenty of images to entertain and amaze you. Roben Kerrod does an excellent job of making cosmology theories accessible to the common man. The theories and descriptions of the universe and its wonders are fascinating.
