A beautiful book that's as joyful as it is heartbreaking
This book represents Will McBride's lifelong obsession to capture the transient beauty of youth.

It's filled with pictures of boys on the brink of manhood, and whilst the pictures are a celebration of the carefree exhuberance of boyhood, they're also a melancholy reminder that we can never go back to those days again.

McBride's intimate relationship with his subjects is countered by the fact he never lets himself get *too* close. As if to touch or love would be to defile.

This is particularly well represented by the series of nudes he takes of his favourite model Uli, when the boy is between the ages of about 10 and 16. McBride seems uncertain whether to represent the boy in the dispassionate style of DaVinci or the more intimate style of modern photographers.

This is also a book that mutely observes that not everybody has the luxury of an innocent or pain-free childhood...

It's very appealing book that will make you both happy and whistful.

Strongly recommended for any lover of people or anyone that appreciates the vivacious yet fleeting nature of boys.

Very Disappointing!
Although I awaited delivery of this book with great anticipation, I can only say how much I regretted purchasing it. No way do the included photographs merit the high price it is marked at. There are maybe only three photographs of any real beauty and artistic interest included in the book, and that includes the cover picture. I will be looking to off load this book ASAP!! I recommend prospective buyers to look at alternative publications rather that purchase this one! Seriously!!

Nice boy photos!
Wonderful, large, emotional photos of boys, some nudes.

It's great to finally see a collection of McBride's photos sold in the US, especially given that many of them were take up to thirty years ago.
