TOO MANY SPELLING MISTAKES!
Having visited many cities over the past year and having bought a guide for each, I decided to buy an Athens guide for my visit to Athens. This guide looked like one of the most easily understandable ones I saw in the shop so I thought I would buy it.

Arriving into Athens by car and looking for the hotel I pulled out my Athens guide to use the map in it to direct the person driving. What a waste of time. The street I was looking for was sure enough on the map but mis-spelt so there was no way I could find it! And to think this is one of the main streets into Athens from the north! However, the spelling mistakes didn't end there, many more were to follow in the descriptions and even area names! That was the most disappointing thing about the book.

Next thing to be criticised are the photographs. Ok so there are some good photos in the book but these are of things that in real life are really not that interesting to see and some of them I couldn't even get inside! What a waste of my time.

So why did I give it 3 stars? Well it is actually a good guide once you get past the many spelling mistakes and the maps which don't read in a logical manner. Also the basic info pages are actually quite useful. The amount of information provided is also very good and there are plenty of useful tips. If you want a guide with good maps then don't bother with this one since you will get lost (as I did!). However, if you want a guide which provides information about almost everything there is to do in the city (including restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and clubs) then this is very good. So even after the anger over the mis-spelt main road, I have decided to hold onto this guide for a future visit.
