Synopsis
Funny, moving and provocative, "Me" is Katherine Hepburn's long-awaited memoir. With characteristic gusto and candour, Hepburn reflects on her childhood and youthful misadventures. She tells us about the ups and downs of her career, her early experience in the theatre and her rise to stardom. She describes her warm and sometimes stormy relationships with David Lean, Howard Hughes, Cary Grant and Louis B. Mayer. And in a book pervaded with love - love of parents, love of family, being loved and loving - she tells us about the love of her life: Spencer Tracy. 'She writes as she has lived - with magnificent disregard for convention ...the narrative crackles like a machine-gun fired from the hip ...' - Bryan Forbes in the "Sunday Express".

Best of the Best
I've long been a fan of Miss Hepburn. The majority of her roles as an actress, have shown her, as in her life the strong, classy lady who says exactly what she means.
This book was a very easy read, and a wonderful insight into her long, very interesting life of family, theatre, film and men. The hardcover book has some wonderful, insightful and personal photo's that make it well worth a space on the bookshelf.
A Great book written by a very 'lucky' lady
This was Kate Hepburn's long awaited autobiography published in 1991. I managed to get through it in less than a week and I found it a joy to read especially about her upbringing in connetticutt and how close she was to her family and near the end of the book when she describes her relationship with Spencer Tracy and what her definition of 'love' is. Those for me were the highlights but there is also much more to savour. Kate goes into detail about her friends including George Cukor, David Lean and LB Mayer not to mention the many others she has encounterd. she is very open and honest about people ,never negative or derogatory, which is one of reasons why she is so poular with so many for so long. when I was reading it though I felt like somethong was missing which I couldnt quite put my finger on then shortly afterwards whilst at a library I discovered the hardback edition and low and behold - pictures! every few pages dozens of photos of Kate's life which had been missing from the paperback edition (which only had a selection) which I would have benefited from so much as they really fit together with the stories kate is telling. But that's just my prefrence this is still a great book with some wonderful stories to be told and as Kate reminds the reader so often - she is lucky.
heard taped version and enjoyed it . . .
to the extent that i then got the book version to hear more of hepburn's story (the tapes were an abridgement), as well as to see the accompanying pictures . . . enjoyed fact that she did the reading . . . the one chapter on "love," depicting her feelings toward tracy, was poignant.
