Evocative, inspiring and unique.4
I loved reading this book, it takes you completely into another world where few us have ever been or will ever go. Into the cold harsh world of the Inuits. It tells the story of two old women left behind by their tribe as they are too old to be of any more use and will soon become a burden. At first the women accept this as the natural order of things, but as they sit waiting for the bitter cold to overcome them they realise that they do not want to lay down and die, they have more to give and more to do. A fascinating and well-written story that draws you in so completely that you can almost feel the biting cold sleet and wind, my only complaint is that it was too short! I wanted more!

The book has been set in Alaska.4
A group of eskimos suffers from lack of food. They decide to revive an old custom according to which "useless" members may be abandoned: in this case two old women. These two who so far believed to be in need of help discover old strengths and resources to survive.Very sensitive treatment of human relationships. The book has been a bestseller in Germany and Switzerland. A good read with a message. Easy to read, relatively short. Elisabeth Harrison

Every Woman Past 50 Should Read This Book!5
I read this book and passed it on to my co-workers. It was loved by all who read it. Now when things get hard at work we say, "Just leave it to the old women, we will get the job done." Some people wonder what we are taling about, but it gives us the courage to stick it out and finish the work for the day.
