Erudite yet readable!
I am more interested in modern medecine than ancient history but I found this short work provided illuminating perspectives on medical provision in the days long before the NHS. It put flesh on the bones of my impressions of Dickensian social provision in a well-defined medical context. A useful resource for a wide range of people from the primary school pupil doing research right through to adults looking for an entree to this fascinating topic.
