If you know what you want.... not fairytales but realism4
This book is by no means simple. It is honestly one of the most challenging books to read and understand (as much of it is a mixture between new and old English as was the writing style). This is similar between it and its counterpart Vampire in Europe (by the same author). Montague Summers was well travelled around Europe to research his books and gives the origins of many of the vampiric beliefs (and also some other beliefs). Be aware that you may have to read chapters over a few times to actually understand them, but when you do, you'll ultimatly realise that you will be an expert on vampiric truths and will know the root of the majority of the vampire tales.
It is an interesting read and I would recommend it if you're looking for a challenge and are actually interested in the subject of vampires, being open minded and wanting to know many of the truths (yet it still doesn't take away the possibility and imagination from the myths).
