Product Description

Whether it's a guide you've produced with your local history society, a collection of poems you want to share with friends, or your epic novel that should surely earn you a fortune, this book will provide you with the practical advice and technical information you need to turn your manuscript into a finished book. It also provides valuable business guidance to ensure you have a clear understanding of your goals. For example: What do you want to achieve from publishing your own book? How much money can you afford to invest? If you intend to sell the book - and not everyone does - who do you think will buy it? Once you have made an informed decision to publish your own book, you'll be guided through the process step-by step: book industry registration, classifications and copyright; pricing and margins; preparing your manuscript for print; format and design options; finding a printer and deciding the print run; marketing and advertising your book; and sales and distribution advice.

Customer Reviews

Excellent resource4
A great book, can't be faulted except that it may be a couple of years old. Has everything you need to know about self-publishing in an easy-to-read format. Is thorough, easy-to-follow and invaluable considering many self-publishing books emanate from the States so contain few relevant contact details for UK readers.
Highly recommended.

Most of the other How To Self Publish books, whilst informative seem to have mainly been written for a US market. This one however is written specifically for a UK market and basically tells you everything you need to know in regards to self-publishing a book in the UK. Very clear and easy to read with lots of addresses and links specific to over here. It's definitely the starting point if you are self-publishing in the UK.

I would just like to use this space to say that I have consulted How to Publish Your Own Book as the 'Self-Publishing Bible' of how to get your book into print and set up a publishing company. My new book Are We There Yet? Travels with my Frontline Family (Paperback £8.99)was published by Reportage Press on May23rd 2007. We are a small publishing company specialising in books with a foreign feel. www.reportagepress.co.uk. We have seven titles in the pipeline. I could not have done this without this excellent book. Check out the book on amazon or buy it directly from the publisher.
