Editorial Reviews

Manufacturer's Description
The TP-7 suits for phone recording, acting as a multipurpose earphone/telephone pickup. Just plug it into the "MIC" jack of your recorder, and put the earphone side into your ear. When speaking on the telephone, the TP-7 will capture both sides of the conversation for recording by your voice recorder. It plugs into a 2,5 mm jack. If you want to use it for a voice recorder with 3,5 mm. Note: When used with the WS-200S,WS-300M,WS-310M,WS320M,DS-2DM-10/DM-20, select Monaural Input in the Menu for selection EXT. INPUT.

Customer Reviews

A must-have for any Olympus recorder5
This nifty gadget allows you to record any phone conversations - landlines and mobiles - without complications, and with excellent sound quality. I have used mine in combination with a WS-40 digital recorder for the past year and it is fantastic for phone interviews. I rave about it so often that two colleagues have purchased it based on my recommendation.

brilliant and useful5
On occasions when I require audio recording from a telephone, this device has proved both reliable and affordable.

Settings advice

In my case, when using a 'Olympus' digital recorder, the microphone does take some power from the device. However, the microphone settings on the device work (i.m.h.o) best by selecting 'non-stereo' / 'low' microphone sensitivity and to record at least 'SP' recording quality.

This optimises the incoming and outgoing voice levels and gives better quality recordings. The resulting recordings prove clear but clearly limited by the telephone medium.

So in themselves the microphone is fine, but you may find confusion if you need to record both telephone and normal voices? In m.h.o, i found a method around it being to buy two recorders, with each digital recorder set differently.

Does the job - with a PC too4
For occasional and mobile recording, this device does the job quite well. Its not the most comfortable solution though - so I doubt you would choose it for daily use. I have plugged it in to my Olympus voice recorder and directly into my laptop for recording - both work fine. It sits OK under my telephone headset too. Came with 3 rubber ear inserts of different sizes. Its fitted with a mono 3.5mm miniplug but adapters for stereo 3.5mm and mono 2.5mm were also supplied with mine.
