If you're planning to become a British citizen or apply to live permanently in the UK then taking the Life in the UK Test will be one of your first steps. Over 100,000 people take the Life in the UK Test every year. Unfortunately, Home Office statistics show that nearly one in three people will fail. As the test is expensive to sit, and time consuming to study for, it is best that you pass your test first time.
By using this book and studying hard you can approach your test with confidence that you will be one of those who pass the test and go on to make Britain their permanent home.
About this book This study book is designed to test your knowledge of the official study materials before sitting the Life in the UK Test. It will allow you to assess your progress in learning and understanding of the study materials so that you will know when you are ready to take your official test.
The book is packed with hundreds of practice questions for you to test yourself. Each question is drawn from chapters 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the official Home Office materials. The questions are identical in format to the questions you will find in your official test. The questions are broken into 17 tests. Each test contains 24 questions - again, this is identical to the format used in the official test. There are also special test sections for those taking the test in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
We have gone to every effort to make each practice test as similar as possible to what you will face in your official test so there will be no surprises. The book also contains advice on how you should go about your study. Read these sections carefully for tips on how you can identify what to learn and how to retain what you have learnt.

My wife passed the test with the help of this book
Yesterday my wife passed her Life In The UK test, and this book proved a great help. Most, but not all of the questions in the test were in this book in one form or another. Alongside the 'purple book' this proved invaluable in revising for the test. We are delighted that we bought it.
Everything you need and more
The Life in the UK Study Guide is incredibly useful not just in teaching you everything you need to know for the test including practice tests, but also contains information on the immigration process.
The book also gives a free subscription to the online practice tests, which I found incredibly handy for building my confidence in the knowledge I needed.
Needless to mention, the information can be rather useful at a pub quiz too!
Best method to knock off Life in the UK Test.
The Green Book (new version) was extremely helpful in revising for the test. Sitting for hours to go through the book would not have been as helpful as the practice questions. Confidence in the answers to questions will come after going through the same questions a few times. Anyone who has limited time to read the book should use the practice questions and complement the general knowledge by going through the book. One session of reading the book should be enough - atleast it was for me. Practice questions are exactly what you expect for the real test! I definitely recommend the book and the online tests.
