SURESOUND - SAFE AND SOUND !
I was originally going to purchase a "traditional style" baby monitor but my husbands comments on "what price a babies life" made me reconsider. The difference in price between a good quality baby monitor and Suresound Ultimate and peace of mind became small..

Set up is simple.. The monitor works on movement your baby breathing or moving whilst it sleeps on an A4 size pad under its mattress my observations as follows:

Good Points:
1. Temperature monitor - this is ideal for working out how much bedding to put on your babies cot/ moses basket and stops the usual conversations is this room too hot or too cold.
2. Night Light - again ideal as you can increase/decrease brightness and it is adequate for illuminating over the babies cot/moses basket just the right brightness ambience so as not to wake baby and you could easily feed or change the baby under this light.
3. Alarm - there are two ways of using the alarm either a green flashing light pulses indicating all is well or green light and an audible beep (beep has a volume control button for ease)
Green light - if the baby is in your room light projects itself onto ceiling so at times you when you have your back to the cot you can glance up and be reassured your baby is fine
Audible beep - I have this on a low volume as it helps me sleep, knowing I can hear it faintly in the background.
4. Peace of mind - to a new mother this machine allows you to relax knowing that if after 20 seconds no movement is detected a loud beep will go off and wake you. I purchase this monitor 6 weeks after my baby was born and now Im almost sleeping through the night instead of getting up and looking in the cot thinking is the baby moving or touching the baby and her waking up. You just see a constant flashing light and hear the beep and you know the baby is fine so you relax.

Bad Points:
1. Small but annoying... when you try to turn either the volume or the brightness of the light down the actual base unit moves around the bedside cabinet as there is not weight in the unit.
2. Volume control.. sometimes when you lower it down to a "faint beep" you cant get it just right as its either loud or silent you have to fiddle with the dial quite alot to get it just right. And sometimes the low volume beep will disappear of its own doing.
3. The A4 size pad that goes under the mattress - the baby can move off this causing a false alarm
4. When you pick the baby up you must remember to switch the alarm off - otherwise 20 seconds later it will go off
5. Can the machine make you more paranoid?? - sometimes.. I had two false alarms within 5 days, I reached into the cot baby was absolutely fine.. was this a false or did the machine do its job I dont know.
If the green light flashes quickly does this mean my baby is breathing erratically ??

Using the two way baby monitor - again this is great you can see the green light flashing so you know movement/ breathing is fine. If you set the audible beep on the main unit attached to the cot you can hear it on your receiver. All other noise the baby waking/ crying is pick up very well.

Overall I would say spend the difference and purchase this monitor it will give you peace of mind that something else is also looking out for your baby.

Suresound baby monitor
I have been using this monitor since my daughter came home from hospital and have to say found it great. It gives you instant peace of mind. If I wake up in the middle of the night all I have to do is give her and the monitor a quick glance and see that flashing green light indicating she is breathing ok ( instead of touching her and waking her up, which is what I used to do with my other children). If you are one of those paranoid mothers who spend the first few weeks/months by the side of the cot zll night making sure baby is ok, this monitor will be great for your peace of mind, and sleep!

I bought this monitor when my son was 3 months old and I must say it is fantastic! It gives my husband and I piece of mind to get a nights sleep. He is a great sleeper but we were both prodding him during the night to ensure he was ok. Since buying the monitor I feel much safer and secure knowing that if anything is wrong the buzzer will go off. If you have any worries then buy it you won't regret it!
