Product Description

The BM-02 NANNY continuously checks your babyThe Nanny Monitor gives parents the peace of mind when they want to get a good night sleep, as they can be sure that Nanny is guarding their pride and joy. The Nanny Monitor uses a sensor pad, positioned under the mattress, to detect the gentle movements of an infants chest and an alarm to wake you if your child stops breathing for 20 seconds or if their breathing drops to 8 breaths per minute. Consists of Sensor Pad Alarm Unit Sensor Pad The sensor pad is placed under the mattress in the cot and the alarm unit is fixed to the cot or could be mounted to the wall. Nanny is powered by batteries and therefore does not pose a danger to the child by being connected to the mains. The sensor pad then monitors the babys movements it can detect even very slight ones and should the baby stop breathing for 20 seconds the alarm will go off to alert parents or carers. The same thing will happen should the babys breathing drop to eight breaths per minute. Alarm Unit Nanny provides protection from apnoea when the baby forgets to breathe while sleeping not only by getting the parents attention but also by waking the baby up. This gives parents the peace of mind when they want to get a good night sleep, as they can be sure that Nanny is guarding their pride and joy. Excellent Monitor To Give Parents Peace of Mind5
I purchased this monitor after having previously purchased the
Tommee Tippee Suresound Ultimate Monitor. This monitor is a massive improvement on the Tommee Tippee monitor for the following reasons:

1. It has a much larger area, so is less prone to false alarms - the Tommee Tippee monitor went off 6 times one night and at least 2 times a night on other nights - I replaced the Tippee in case the unit was faulty, and had the same issue with the Tippee.

2. The alarm on this unit is much louder and useful when the baby is sleeping upstairs during the day.

3. It gives a warning clicking noise before sounding the alarm in case you take baby out of the cot and forget to switch the unit off - when this happens it is reassuring to know the unit is working.

4. The unit is much more sensitive than the Tippee and I have been told by the supplier (it was a different supplier on the Amazon website previously) when I called them, that the Nanny mat is actually used in hospitals hence its greater sensitivity. The mat has also received a Gold Award previously from one of the baby awards programmes.

5. An additional mat for the unit can be purchased for approximately £25 and then the control until can be quickly disconnected and reconnected to the other pad (takes just seconds to do) - we do this to move the control unit from the upstairs cot to the downstairs crib during the day.

Other things you should know about this:

1. The unit is purely a movement sensor, which picks up the baby's breathing, but it doesn't come with a sound monitor to tell you when baby is crying - the Tippee does, but the Tippee's sound monitor is very poor - we instead have purchased a separate digital sound & video monitor known as "Safety 1st" to combine with the nanny mat, and the combination works well but you can use any audio monitor, but just remember that you need to add that as a separate cost in your budget.

2. For any movement sensors it is important that the mat is sitting squarely on a firm base. We went to our local DIY superstore (Homebase) with the measurements of the bottom of our cot which had slats on its base rather than a full rectangular base, and asked them to cut a piece of MDF board to size - it only cost us about £3 for the wood (including the custom cutting in the store). We put the MDF on the existing cot base, with the mat on top and then the mattress on top of that - it works much better that way.

This mat has provided us with such peace of mind, it is definitely worth buying.
