When Myleene Klass discovered she was pregnant, her initial joy was quickly replaced by fear the moment she read her first pregnancy book. It was full of 'don't do this, don't do that' - and Myleene was terrified that she had already endangered her baby's life. Every book she read after wards was either too technical or too fluffy - none of them described how she was really feeling, and she felt very isolated. "My Bump and Me" is about everything Myleene did 'wrong' during her pregnancy, how her hormones turned her into a woman she hardly recognized, and how incredible it feels to be expecting a baby. From conception to birth - via morning sickness, raging hormones, cravings, baby names, sex, sleepless nights, opinionated in-laws, 'bump envy', and the labor itself - Myleene offers practical advice, essential medical information, and an honest account of what's in store for anyone with a baby on the way.

A well written account of pregnancy.
I have had three pregnancies and having read this book more out of curiosity than anything I now wish I could have had it when I was pregnant.
As Myleene says in the introduction it is not intended to be a medical guide, the week by week information provided does give you some idea of how big the baby is growing and when to expect some of the bigger milestones such as scans.
The best thing I found was the refreshing honesty with which the book is written, highlighting some of the less glamorous aspects of pregnancy. Initially I was sceptical, after all celebrities have it easy don't they? This book showed me that this was not the case, Myleene worries about child care, looking after the baby during the pregnancy when to go public and how much to buy for the baby just like the rest of us.
Also included were some snippets from Gray, the father-to-be which provide a man's perspective, something usually lacking in pregnancy books.
I finished this book quickly as I was eager to read it, it is well written and I sympathised, laughed and empathised as I read. For a non-medical take on what pregnancy is really like I would recommend this book to mums to be and for nostalgia and a good read for Mums and women everywhere.
Great to get someone's perspective on pregnancy
I loved the book. It was easy to read and an account of her experience of pregnancy. I read it in one evevning. It was honest and even though she has a lot of priviledges that most mothers don't have, she worked hard for them, so why begrudge her.
I've also read Jools Oliver's Minus Nine to One. Both were equally enjoyable. It would be nice to see in print more diaries of regular women's pregnancies. I tried to read the Fat Ladies Club and hated the bitchiness. This book by contrast was done to earth and an easy read for someone who is curious about other women's experiences.
Must have read for all expectant mothers!
This book arrived in the post today and i have read it in 2 hours! I only intended to read it up to the point i am at in my pregnancy but couldn't help reading on and before i knew it i had finished it!
Its not the biggest book, but has information on a weekly basis both from Myleene's perspective and medical information.
You will read parts where you can totally sympathise with Myleene and parts where you have to consider yourself very lucky, or at least i did!
My favourite parts were the snipits written by Gray, the father to be which were very amusing and interesting to see things from the fathers perspective, probbaly what your other halves are thinking although too scared to tell you! A particurly funny bit was when Gray decided he needed to hide the knives and told Myleene it was because he was scared she might cut herself accidently but it was because he was actually scared she would use one on him!
It is a good supplement to the more 'medical' based pregnancy books and changed my mind on a few things that i was adament on doing or not doing before.
Totally recommend it!
