A wonderful insight into the life of Thomas Hardy. I looked at this hefty tome and thought I would struggle to get through it, but I couldn't put it down. If like me you are not an academic, but love Hardy's novels and poetry, then this book (so readable) will enrich your future enjoyment, by showing you the man,and through Ralph Pite's reference to particular novels and poems,also show you the people, who inspired his personal passions and literary brilliance. I now intend to reread all Hardy's work again.
