Synopsis
"Language, Timothy!" is the sit-com catchphrase reprimand of the ever-aproned mother of 41 year old Timothy Lumsden, who is still living at home, treated like an eternal teenager. Barbara Lott plays the cossetting, over-protective, opinionated mother to Ronnie Corbett's witty bumbling, diminutive and bespectacled amateur thespian Timothy. He's never been able to cut the apron strings and lead his own life, and any whiff of romance always gets snuffed out by the supposed high standards of serial saboteur Mrs Lumsden, or is just that she doesn't want to lose her 40-something "baby boy" to a flighty young woman. This set features the twelve episodes making up series one and two. You'll know if your flies are undone if someone remarks that "There's a star in the East!"

Great to see this show on DVD5
This series is just as good as I remember it and never fails to raise a laugh.
It ran for 8 years on BBC1 in 80's and maintained the quality throughout.
This release has no extras sadly but contains series one and two and will provide many hours of retro comedy fun.
I just hope all subsequent series will be released too.

Sorry Series 1 & 25
A really excellent series of programmes that got better as the series progressed. From what I recall the later series, which have still to be issued, were even more enjoyable than series 2 and I cannot wait for them to come out on DVD.

Ronnie Corbett's well remembered series3
Although not in the same class as Partner Ronnie Barker's sole excursions as Fletcher and Arkwright, in Porridge and Open All Hours respectively, Sorry is a reasonable Ronnie Corbett
vehicle which ran for several series through much of the 1980's. The fact that it's hard to recall much of the series today shows that it has not totally remained in viewers minds. The aspects of the series which intially come to mind are its central premise of the youngest child who still hasn't escaped from living with his parents despite him nearing middle age,and ofcourse the obligatory catchphrase present in many comedies of this period, in this case Language Timothy, as regularly barked out by his dominating Mother. Granted Ronnie Corbett looks a little old to be playing 40 year Libarian Timothy, even in series 1. However any shortcoming whether literal or not is overturned by Corbett's portrayal of the central chracter. Indeed the characters lack of height may help explain why he lacks confidence, and won't fight to escape the situation he finds himself in. Throughout the episodes, girlfriends come and go, and Timothy finds himself back to square one. The series is very funny at times. In retrospect, although this series is rarely repeated on BBC1, it can not really be said that it deserves a full series release ahead of more familar programmes such as Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, and Dads ARmy, which are only currently available in best of DVD format.
