Leary Rocks!
Good TV series are hard to come by. Excellent ones are as rare as hens teeth, and when they do arrive, they are usually American. House, Sopranos, West Wing, ER, The Shield - these are the programmes that we build our week's viewing around. Well it looks like the bar has been raised a little higher with Rescue Me - everything about it works. The script is razor-sharp, managing to hit a near perfect balance of action, humour and pathos. The acting mirrors the script, with Dennis Leary right at the top of his game as a hard-hitting damaged firefighter, ably supported by an excellent ensemble cast that add depth to every storyline. If you haven't seen it - you're missing out! Treat yourself - buy this dvd.

The Best Sky Series Ever ???
As the other review says this really was a fantastic series, I can't wait for the next series to start - it's already airing in the USA so hopefully not too much longer.
Denis Leary heads the Leary Firefighters Foundation so knows his stuff (more info at www.cowboyuk.com) and this comes across throughout this program. Region 2 DVD hurry up !!!

excellent show
i have not got the dvd yet as it is not out on region 2 yet but this was one of the best shows of last year.
focusing on a new york fire crew dealing with the aftermath of 9/11 this is a moving and often funny acount of the different ways they all cope.
there is tommy gavin (leary) who has turned to drink after his divorce and has conversations with his cousin who died at the attacks. the rest of the crew deal with it in other ways mostly just getting on with life although one has turned to writing poetry.
it doesnt dwell solely on 9/11 though and the balance is just right.
well written, well acted a real gem of a show and the dvd will be on my shelf as soon as it is released.
