Synopsis
A ratings behemoth around the world and an enduring cultural icon, THE SIMPSONS continued into an eighth season, on its way to its becoming history's longest-running animated show. Springfield's most recognisable dysfunctional family is comprised of layabout dad Homer, troublesome son Bart, politically correct genius Lisa, baby Maggie, and the eminently reasonable, blue-haired Marge. Season eight includes 'The Springfield Files', where Homer encounters what he believes to be an alien being. This leads to an investigation by agents Mulder and Scully from THE X-FILES. After eating a hallucinogenic chilli, Homer goes in search of his soul mate in 'El Viaje Misterioso De Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)'. Audiences are also treated to a return of the 'Treehouse of Horror', a 'Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase'--hosted by Troy McClure--and Homer becomes a successful boxer due to his propensity for being able to take shots to the head in 'The Homer They Fall'. Other episodes include Lisa falling in love with playground bully Nelson ('Lisa's Date With Density'), Bart trading in Santa’s Little Helper for heroic Lassie-like dog Laddie ('The Canine Mutiny'), only to regret the swap afterwards, and Homer becoming a bootleg beer baron after alcohol is made illegal in Springfield ('Homer vs. The Eighteenth Amendment').

Allway's Recycle... TO THE EXTREME (groan)5
I love this season of Simpsons as it has some absolute classics in it.
I love most of the episodes in this boxset and it even has the episode 'Homer's Enemy', which sets up one the best Simpsons episode ever where someone is trying to kill Homer and They get Sideshow Bob To help him out.
Simpsoncalifragilisticeexpialad'ohcious is an absolute classic and it features Groundskeeper Willie's classic "Im a maniac on the dancefloor" Song/Dance which is hilariarious.
This is one of the best Seasons and shows the Simpsons at some of it's best.
Keep on making them.

KABLAMMO! Ooo excuse me... 5
This is my favourite season of Simpsons, so many classic episodes, particular favourites being "You only move twice" (with the Globex Corporation, Hank Scorpio is an excellent character), "El Viaje Misterioso De Nuestro Jomer" (Homer eating the guatamalen insanity peppers) and "Homer vs. The Eighteenth Amendment" (Homer the Beer Baron).

The commentary is entertaining, the episodes are fabulous, I'd highly recommend this box set! Even the menus are entertaining :)

Long time watcher, first time ranter...5
I'll be honest, I'm sure this review will soak into the giant sponge that is people's opinions of this show but what the hell. There's not much that hasn't been said about The Simpsons, but there's a bit that's not said about this boxset so here goes:
To be fair, it's got to take something pretty special to make you buy a DVD of a show that if you tried hard enough, you could probably find it five to six times a day on telly anyway but this series is so god damn special , its only been and done it...

There are so many classics rammed on these two discs it's almost as if this was a `Greatest hits' edition or something, honestly, if ever there was a DVD series crammed with more stupidly hilarious comedy....I haven't found it.
Lets see....You've got the Treehouse of Horror one where Bart has a Siamese twin in the loft and Kang and his alien mate impersonate the US presidents with hilarious outcomes...you've got the hilarious one where Homer aka `The Brick HitHouse' boxes Drederick Tatum with sly Moe as his manager, hilarious, ooh ooh and the one where Milhouses' Ma leaves his Dad for an American Gladiator called `Chase' and he picks her up in one of those steel balls (Atlasperes) from the show and rolls down the street in it, oh yeah, and that one where Homer coats his tongue with candle wax so he can eat the worlds hottest Chilli and starts to hallucinate, damn hilarious...just one more - there's the one where the Simpsons go to a collectors shop and the guy working there is gay, Homer makes friends without realising and then when he does, he thinks it's rubbed off on Bart and so takes Bart to a gay steel mill to make him a straight man, so funny...Oh yeah, one of the best ever, the one where Homer makes an enemy of Frank `Grimey' Grimes at the plant, this one is hilarious, all the way up to when he dies - even the funeral bit is funny this is how good this series is...
...sorry I need to go on, there's the one where Sideshow Bobs (Kelsey Grammer from Frasier) brother Cecil turns up (Frasier's brother Niles plays this part also) and the X files parody episode as well as the hilarious one where Homer and Mr Burns get trapped in an avalanche...the list goes on...
...to the one which is the crème de la crème, in my opinion the funniest ever episode where Homer gets a new job under Hank Scorpio which is an obvious Mickey take of Dick Branson, now this one is worth buying the DVD alone, trust me, if you haven't seen it, it'll crack you up.... Hank Scorpio: Hey, look at my feet. You like those moccasins? Look in your closet; there's a pair for you. Don't like them? Then neither do I" Absolutely mint!

Well I could go on, really I could - I haven't mentioned half of the episodes, just check out the list and you'll see some you remember. All you need to know is, there's no point buying all the boxset's of this programme because its probably near five hundred quid's worth by the time they finish making them, and it'll probably take up an entire floor to ceiling bookcase to store them - plus its always on TV like I said, but if you find yourself up late at night, lonely or drunk and depressed and you need a quick pick-me-up, then get this bad boy its hee-diddly-larious.
-Oh yeah, you may have noticed I said hilarious a fair few times in this review? That's no mistake boy-o, I am aware of other descriptive words (an adjective to you) but no other sums this boxset up as well. So in the words of Mr Hank Scorpio after throwing my shoes away: "Get the hell out of here...I bet you haven't seen anyone say goodbye to a pair of shoes have you?" Well I have, once....
