Synopsis
AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE is a cult favourite on the Cartoon Networks late-night animation segment, ADULT SWIM. The show hits the big screen with the curiously titled AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE COLON MOVIE FILM FOR THEATERS, and the plot is as convoluted and nonsensical as the title. Bored, and in hopes of attracting women, Meatwad and Master Shake assemble their second-hand workout machine, the Insane-o-flex. Frylock steps in to help and discovers its missing a crucial part--the power chip. They recover the chip, and upon installation launch the machine into its real purpose as a killer robot. This film will be a must-see for hardcore fans of AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE, as several of the sub-characters from the series appear in the film. These include the Mooninites, the Plutonians, MC Pee Pants, and Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future. The traits of the three main characters symbolize Freuds three-part structural theory of the psyche: the Ego, Super-ego, and Id--and the concept works as both a feature-length film and as a fun, absurd 15 minute cartoon.
Customer Reviews
Just plain terrible, dont bother
I got this movie under recommendation, and a comedy movie/series based around a talking packet of french fries, a soda&a meatball, really badly animated, sounded like just my cup of tea. Unfortunately this movie is just bad. Not bad in a cool b-movie kinda way, but just plain bad. I didnt laugh once. Its not funny, even in a dumbass way, it has th same storyline & animation quality as The Brave Little Toaster, but I love those movies for their awfulness. I cannot fathom its cult following in any way at all.
Utterly stupid, yet stupidly brilliant
If you take as a starting point the fact that the heroes are a packet of French fries, a wad of minced meat and a milkshake, then that should give you a rough idea of what to expect. To try and get more of an idea of what it is like, think of all the flash-backs and surreal events in Family Guy, and then imagine a whole film made up of such bizarreness yet somehow tied together with a (just about) coherent story line. If you think that sounds a good idea, then you'll love this film.
I fell in love with the ridiculous surrealism of the TV show that spawned this movie, so when I saw the movie was coming out, I just had to see it. I didn't know how well the format would hold up in a feature length film, but it was basically brilliant.
I guess you could just about consider this a super hero movie, and like many such movies it does have a kind of 'origins' theme to it. Other than that, it probably has little in common with anything else you've ever seen.
Great stuff but maybe you need to have watched the series first.
More excellent mental comedy from adult swim although you probably will appreciate the humour more if you've seen some of the original series and are under the influence of something!
What I can't understand is that the movie is being released here but to buy the series you have to get the R1 releases! Seems a bit backwards to me, but maybe this indicates that they are thinking of bringing the series to R2.
