Customer Reviews
GREAT 4TH SERIES
I really enjoyed the 4th series, as the previous reviewers have said there are a few fillers in this one, but there are some very, very funny episodes, with Ham Radio being my fave in this collection. I would have given this five stars, but there is a lack of extra's on this, and, I would have liked to have seen interviews with the cast/production, considering the price of this boxset. But all in all, a good series.
Good but not the best series
I don't know if it is just me, but Series 4 of Frasier seems just a little bit more patchy than the previous 3 series. There are half a dozen or so fabulous episodes here but also quite a lot of fairly predictable ones. For me it doesn't hit the heights of series 2 or 3, or have the "early days" charm of series 1. Of course the great episodes are really marvelous but there's quite a lot of filler here too. It's still very good comedy and twenty four episodes for £15 is great value, so its worth the money, but there are better series of Frasier.
Sublime comedy
It took me a while to get into Frasier as I was always busy when it was on TV during the 90s and early 2000s. Like many others I have caught up on DVD and it is a comedy gem full of fast wit and high society farce. Frasier actually outscores its precursor series Cheers, which has aged badly in my opinion. I have to warn you that there are virtually no behind-the-scenes interviews or extras, but that would just be another cherry on top of the icing of this brilliant cake.
This season is one of the best as the characters are now well developed and so we can get into some juicy storylines. Martin has a new girlfriend, Sherry, who Frasier and Niles find unbearably common. Frasier spends the season struggling to find love while Niles continues to lust after Daphne. The comic timing between the characters (especially between Frasier and Niles) has now been perfected and the laughs just keep coming.
The most remembered episode for the majority of viewers has been "Ham Radio". I agree, it is a classic (but my all-time personal favourite has to be The Innkeepers from Season 2) and stands out in this season, which has many other very funny episodes too such as:
The Two Mrs Cranes,
The Impossible Dream,
Mixed Doubles,
To Kill a Talking Bird,
Roz's Turn,
Four for the Seesaw,
Three dates and a Break-up
and
Daphne Hates Sherry.
With so many quality episodes I can only rate it 5 stars!
