'St. Jude' is the debut album from Mancunian indie four-piece The Courteeners. After signing to Polydor Records in 2007the band went on to support the likes of The Coral and hooked up with producer Stephen Street (Blur, Babyshambles) to create a record bursting with guitar noise and rasping, energetic vocals. Singles include 'What Took You So Long' and 'Not Nineteen Forever'.

Give it a go...
Some say we don't need another Manchester band with a Liam in it, I say grow up- buy it, listen to it and ideally get out and see 'em live because these lads can certainly do the do on stage. Sing along, dance around and enjoy!
Kings Of The New Road?
I just discovered The Courteeners, having seen them as the support act on the Stereophonics' UK tour. My rating for them lies somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.
I do like them but they are nothing new. I felt that the hype I have read surrounding the record's release was just that - hype. I went online after the concert to read up more and when I bought and listened to this album, it didn't quite live up to these claims.
But that is not to say it's not good. It's easy to listen to, and despite the Parental Advisory label on the front, it's inoffensive and I actually have not heard any profanity therein so far.
I'd recommend this band and its music to fans of bands such as The Kooks, Scouting For Girls, The Script, The Pigeon Dectives and all the others like them.
First class!
This is an excellent debut album. From start to finish, finely crafted songs, superb musicianship it's no wonder the album has been nominated for the Guardian's Best First British Album award.
