DVD Description
This fantastic box set brings together a collection of the much-loved Baby Einstein series of DVDs. All Baby Einstein products are designed to encourage discovery and inspire new ways for parents and little ones to interact through colourful moving pictures and specially re-recorded classical soundtracks--scientifically proven to encourage cognitive development. This box set includes 6 of the best from the wide range of developmentally appropriate products for babies and toddlers, with varying levels of interaction to suit your child as it grows up. Each incorporates a unique combination of real world objects, music, art, language, and nature--providing you an opportunity to introduce your baby to the world around them in playful and enriching ways.
Included in this collection:
Baby Mozart--simple shapes, primary colours and favourite toys passing across the screen choreographed around chosen pieces of Mozart's music.
Baby Beethoven--presents excerpts from five of the composer's most famous symphonies (as well as incidental music) accompanied by colorful images of toys in action, puppetry, and babies at play.
Baby Language Nursery--as well as the colours and shapes, with a narrating female voice moving from English into another language--designed to expose your child to the wider world of languages.
Baby Neptune--an educational and imaginative look at the world of water, from the beach to the bath. Featuring baby friendly images like puppets and toys as well as music by Handel and other classical composers.
Baby Van Gogh--focused on the works of Vincent Van Gogh (here represented by a blue sock puppet) children are introduced to the colours of the rainbow with music from Van Gogh's era (including "The Blue Danube Waltz", "The William Tell Overture" and "Swan Lake").
Baby Noah--uses animation to take your children on a tour of the globe, stopping off the see the animals and scenery of each particular region. Two by two, the animals join the fun on the ark as your child tours the tropics, the outback, and more.

Customer Reviews
The content is great, but good value...?
For many parents the Baby Einstein DVDs represent nirvana. In a way that normal TV doesn't, these DVDs largely hold your baby's attention for their entire duration which allows you half an hour or so of respite. At the same time they are meant to aid development so remove guilt (although I believe that there is no, or very limited, evidence to suggest that these DVDs actually do any good).
If you watch them yourself you will see a pretty basic production, for example some electronic toys, or some wildlife footage, or some glove puppets often set to classic music rearranged for what sounds to me like a c.1970 keyboard. But, this isn't about you. Babies love them and seem very happy to watch these repeatedly. So, even though each show isn't that long, they will get multiple viewings.
The specific disks in this box set are listed above and reviewed individually on Amazon so I won't do that again here. Suffice it to say that with these six you get a good spread over different ages groups.
However, this particular box set feels rather expensive, which is why I dropped a star. For the six DVDs it is much cheaper than buying them individually, however in the recent past (certainly in 2004) a box set was released that contained at least 17 of the Baby Einstein DVD titles (including all of these). These sets are often available second hand and for mine I paid £40 i.e. much the same price as this six disk box set costs new.
So, in summary, the content does what you expect. However you will need to decide if you think that this particular box represents value for money.
Baby Einstein: simple yet brilliant
On first viewing, the Baby Einstein Box Set appears to contain such simple images and videography that you'd think anyone could make it. But after seeing our baby's response, it was obvious that a lot of research and skill had gone into making the videos, and we knew that we had made a wise investment. Our little girl has been captivated by them since she was 2 months old - squealing with excitement, and now giggling and laughing along with them. I'm embarrassed to admit that her parents often find themselves transfixed to the screen too! Simple puppetry and filming of children's toys in action, accompanied by sound effects and a classical music background, sounds simple enough but yet it works so well.
Baby Einstein v Tom and Jerry
There seem to be a good range of subjects covered with the many CD's included in the box set. I'm not keen on the American as opposed to English accent of the voices. Hoping my baby grows into these CD's - at the moment she prefers Tom and Jerry. The Baby Einstein CD's sometimes aren't fast enough paced to keep her attention. In hindsight I wish I'd bought just one CD to try before diving in and buying the whole set.
