I've been studing Capoeira for a while, and wanted to find any usefull stuff that could help me understand and help train better. That is how i ended up finding this book on the Amazon site.

This book is a real must have for capoeira beginner students.

It's a perfect book that not only touches on the history of capoeira, but on the elements that make up capoeira as we know it.(The instruments, and there meaning, the Roda, the songs, e.t.c)

This book is also perfect for showing step by step explanations of the basic movements of capoira. This is ideal for beginners who want to practice outside of class, and can't remember what was covered, as well as them being able to look and study how to perform certain moves, before being shown in class.

Very Impressive
I have only had this book for one day now and havent had a chance to read through all of it yet, but from just what I have seen so far, Im very impressed. The history of capoeira is very detailed and the diagrams (although hand drawn) are very informative and reasonably easy to follow. I think this book is great if you are just starting to get into capoeira as it gives you a very good understanding of its origin and the different styles. It even has a glossary of terms in the back to help you understand whats being talked about. I also like the way it breaks all the moves down into steps and even gives you exercises to practice to help perfect the move. All in all, its a great book.

INSPIRING AND INFORMATIVE
This book is a excellent introduction to the Brasilian martial art/dance/game of capoeira. As a complete beginner, I now feel I am gaining a firm foundation in capoeira, the movements, history and philosphy. The diagrams and descriptions are clear and conscise and not at all confusing. Half the book is about capoeira in general with sections on the history, music, philosophy and other aspects. The second half has many basic moves. A bonus for a newcomer like me is a small dictionary of capoeira terms that allow me to talk-the-talk as well as walk-the-walk.
