"It's not enough to survive - you have to be worthy of survival."5
It's not until you sit back and listen to this soundtrack that you realise just how much of the Battlestar world is created by the excellent work of Bear McCreary.
This CD comprises the bulk of the music from the second season and covers the essential elements that make up the core of the show.
Using a variety of instruments from many countries, McCreary once again delivers an orchestral soundstage that you'd only usually get in movies.
Now that we're in season two you can even begin to pick out the examples of leitmotif that have subtly laid in over the past year, especially for Starbuck, Admiral Adama and Number 6.
The music is moving (A Promise To Return), bombastic (Prelude To War - my personal favourite), sweeping (Allegro) and haunting (Baltar's Dream).
For fans of the classic series there is even a 'cover' of the 'Exploration' theme which has been remixed beautifully into the track Colonial Anthem from Final Cut.
All in all any fan of Battlestar Galactica, new or old, should own this soundtrack and for those out there who just like excellent music then it's a safe bet that you'll like this CD!

Bear Mcreary Does it Again5
With the series being nothing short of awesome in both drama and sci-fi departments its fitting the soundtrack to such a series be just as awesome. Bear improves upon his season 1 themes with some truly brilliant composing to match all the scenes in the series. There is also a nice little reworking of the 70s battlestar theme in the form of the Colonial Anthem from the miniseries. My personal favourites include : Pegasus, Lords of Kobol, Roslin and Adama and last but by no means least Prelude to War a fantastic 8min+ track that represents the bulk of the action in season 2.

Exceptional!5
Quite simply beautiful, powerful and awe inspiring.

As with the show itself, Bear keeps getting better and better.
I have so far listened to this CD daily since it arrived through my letterbox...

If you are a fan of the show then you really should own this, you won't regret it. If you are a fan of good music then you will also love this.
