| 1.Professor Gwyn Thomas (born 1936 in Tanygrisiau, Gwynedd), is a Welsh poet, academic and National Poet for Wales. Raised in Tanygrisiau and Blaenau Ffestiniog, Thomas was educated at Ysgol Sir Ffestiniog, University of Wales, Bangor and Jesus College, Oxford; Prof Thomas is presently Emeritus Professor of Welsh at the University of Wales, Bangor. 2.Gwyn Thomas (July 6, 1913 – April 13, 1981) was a Welsh writer who has been called 'the true voice of the English-speaking valleys'. Gwyn Thomas was born in the Rhondda valley, the son of a coalminer. He studied Spanish at Oxford University, and also spent six months at the University of Madrid thanks to a miners' scholarship. He also taught at the WEA in South Wales before becoming a schoolteacher. A prolific novelist and short-story writer, he became a full-time writer and broadcaster in 1962. | ||
