Buy with confidance!5
This is a good little book, it does a good job of getting to know the VW Beetle and its faults in a couple of hours reading and re-reading. It goes into depth if you find a Bug that looks the part via a 15 minute check over. I cant say that I have ever spent that much time looking at a car I had already decided to own after the 15 minutes, but that is because I havn't spent the big money that some Beetles can command. If you are going to spend a lot of money on a motor its best to do the thinking before you part with the wedge and this book helps you out with the thinking. Its not substitute for another person with you to prevent you being a little tooo eager! its an addition. The authors do mention this fact, along with a buyers toolkit, values, popularity of model, etc and all kinds of numbers and facts to help you decide, not to mention all the rust points,(long list!), and mechanical bits and bobs and tells you to walk away when the faults are un-economic to repair.
In all a good buy for the novice or even if you think you know it all.It helped me out with a few things when I bought my Beetle last month.Showing the seller a relevant part of the book when you find fault, if any, could help with a bit of a reduction in the price!(it worked for me). I have also got the Bus guide too and this is just as good.
