Planning a holiday?5
This book proved most useful when planning our 2 week holiday to Italy.

In fact most of the Eyewitness books are good for this. They're packed with diagrams and colour photos that are not only pretty to look at but also very useful.

We didn't take this book with us on our trip as it's very heavy, but as a starting point for planning a trip it's perfect. We sifted through the book and said "I wanna go to that place/that looks nice" and made up our itinerary from there.

It doesn't have too much detail on smaller town as you'd expect, but the thing I really like about this book, is that after our holiday we still look through it. "Been there" we say like sad individuals!

And unlike other books like Rough Guide & Lonely Planet (which we took with us), these books are still interesting to look through. I've since given my LP away as it's only really useful when yer on the road. This book however still makes for a great coffee-table book, packed with fab photos & info. Perfect for the armchair traveller, or holiday planner in us all!

great guide5
This guide is really great. It is much easier to digest than the lonely planet guide and has all the information you need for planning a trip as well as using while you are there. The maps are ok as a starting point but you can get better ones from tourist offices for free anyway. If you know exactly where you are going then get the specific guide but if not this one is really useful. Its only problem is its weight which does get annoying to carry around all day.

Dorling Kindersley5
I really love DK's Eyewitness travel guides and always buy them when planning a trip - they ensure that I don't book myself into a one-horse town! They use incredible photography and their guides to landmarks and sites mean that you don't have to buy guidebooks when you arrive - so they are really good value for money. Love them!!
