The Best Baroque collection5
This 2 CD box set was released by Decca in 2002. I remember I was counting the days to its release because I was looking forward to a particular tract in this recording. The Tract in question was Lascia ch'io pianga from Rinaldo by Handel. At that time this beautiful aria from Rinaldo was like a new discovering and Classic FM featured it on and off. You know how it can drive you nuts to hear a piece on the radio. and not only do you not know the name, you can't find it anywhere. So when in the preview of this CD, I heard the same piece, I could not wait to buy it. Now you know why I did, but what about you, why should you buy it? Everyone should own this because it is the best and most versatile collection of Baroque music. I love Baroque music and have a lot of collections of Baroque compilations as well as baroque composers but there are some ground breaking recordings included in this set which makes it not only delightful but a unique compilation. In CD 1 all the favourites are covered, and in CD 2 we are treated to gem discoveries of many hitherto unknown baroque pieces. This is a great set to own. You can't go wrong with it.

Wonderful5
I highly recommend this cd. It is a wonderful compliation of baroque music and I listen to it on a regular basis and never get bored - I am no expert when it comes to classical music, but this cd has introduced me to pieces and artists I did not know and I have learnt a lot because of it. A good cd as an introduction to baroque music or if you wish to have a compilation of wonderful classics to relax to - good value too as it is a double disc. As all the pieces are adagio's, the tracks flow nicely from another - there are also other recordings in this 'Adagio' series, including Mozart, Beethoven and many more which I would also recommend.

Heavenly Baroque5
I'm quite a keen classical enthusiast though I must admit some of my collection consists of compilations of composers 'good bits'. For instance, I've recently been treating myself to a few of the CDs from this ADAGIO series. Although ALL the music on each CD is beautiful, my one criticism is that a few of the same tracks are featured on different CDs in the same ADAGIO series; this is a little irritating...you would think the compilers of these discs would limit particular tracks to a particular title without risking repeated listenings to collectors of the whole series. That said though, I think this Baroque Adagios CD is my favourite of those I have partly because I love baroque music but also because the more familiar 'famous' tracks are in the main 'got rid of' in the first half of disc one, leaving the listener to savour the wonder of the lesser known gems. Highly recommended.
