Good USB drive let down by poor software3
I bought the Scandisk Cruzer Titanium U3 4Gb Readyboost in order to use it as the Readyboost functionality advertised in the product name on Windows Vista.

Once I plugged the product in Windows Vista asked me whether I wanted to use the Readyboost functionality and I said yes. Since I had a reasonable amount of memory in my PC, a performance boost was not immediately apparent.

Shortly afterwards Windows Vista locked up and would not give me permission to do anything (no access to task manager or shutdown). I was then forced to hit the reset button).

Unplugged the drive and went to Scandisk website, which after taking me in circles a couple of times told me that the U3 software was not Vista compatible. There was an option to download an U3 uninstaller, which I did but the software could not find my USB drive when I plugged it back in. Next option would be low level format, but why should I have to do this with a product which advertises itself as Readyboost compliant.

Not impressed with software, as a USB flash drive appears to function OK. Caveat emptor, question of Vista compatibility is not obvious on the Scandisk website.

    Very dissapointed1
I have the 1GB version of this drive and I can safely say it has been the best flash drive I've ever owned. However, this latest drive does not live up to that standard. The case feels flimsy in comparison to the older model and it's clear that Sandisk have started to cut the corners on the product in general. No clip or neck chain was supplied like previous models and the drive itself makes a cheap, tinny, metallic sound when handled.

The Cruzer Titanium used to be a good product that was rugged and durable. The latest ones have none of those characteristics and for the price it's very poor value for money.

    Pretty good but...4
This is the second Cruzer Titanium 4GB I've bought. Surprisingly, both came with the shiny bits covered in tiny scratches. I wonder if that's by design.

The bit that slides out seems to catch on something - it does slide out to the proper position, just not smoothly. The previous model was perfectly smooth.

Pros: it is indeed fast. U3 software there for you if you like, or it can be uninstalled easily.

Cons: unlike its non-ReadyBoost predecessor, this doesn't come with a pocket clip, even though the grooves are there for it like on the previous model.

Up to you to decide: a large bright blue LED. I personally don't like it - it's way too bright.
