Not just Aly but Phil too
Oops, Amazon, for listing this under just Aly Bain, when it features heavily the beautiful music of Phil Cunningham. This CD contains some wonderfully evocative tunes, as well as the jaunty little Para Handy theme, and other music that may not be as well-known.

The stand-out track is Phil Cunningham's A Bright Star in Cepheus, written in memory of his brother, Johnny. I heard that tune on Phil's MySpace and had to buy the CD. It has to be one of the most achingly emotional pieces of folk music ever written, sooner or later someone will discover it, and put it on a film soundtrack. Surely.

Aly fans will find plenty to enjoy here as well, and this CD just cements Aly's reputation as the greatest living fiddle player. I would say that it puts Phil right up there as the greatest living accordionist too.

Another gem!
This is another excellent effort. However, they are even better live. Catch one of their gigs if you possibly can.
