when i was Searching for an External HDD i was tired at looking at plain black boxes when i noticed the Neso drives the images looked smart as did the price so i decided to purchase it,
On receipt of the drive i was even more impressed the images didnt do this drive Justice it was stunning and only a tad wider than my fellas Iphone, i Simply plugged it in and my laptop recognised it instantly i was also surprised at how quiet the drive is,
all in all i am extremely Impressed with my little Neso and would recommend this to anybody searching for an External hardrive !!!
If you love gadgets!
What a great little product...!! Not heard of NESO before but read the description and realised that it was a Hitachi drive inside the unit and decided to give one a go. I purchased the 500GB model and was thrilled when it arrived.
The unit is TINY and looks great, had all of my new video content on there very quickly as was simply plug and play. At the end of the day I find that most externals perform well enough for what I need but I had no issues with this and is definately the best looking unit I have come across
When is the 1TB released? :-)
The little hard drive that could
I decided to purchase a Neso after reading the favourable reviews it has received, and having toyed with mine all day I thought I'd throw another favourable review onto the pile. So far my Neso has swallowed up over 250GB of data without a hitch (knock on wood...). Let's consider a few of the ups and downs of the device:
1. Form factor - The Neso is exactly as thick as my 30gb Video iPod (read: not very), and no more than a centimeter larger in the other two dimensions. It fits comfortably into either the front or back pockets of my pants.
2. USB cable - After reading a few stories about 2.5" external hard drives that need to be plugged into two USB slots to draw enough power to operate, I can happily tell you that the Neso only requires one USB slot (especially useful if your two USB slots are on opposite sides of the laptop, as is the case with mine).
3. Case - This is an attractive hard drive, nicer even than the (computer generated) product images that appear on the corresponding Amazon page. It is sleek and simple, and the power/read/write light is small and unobtrusive. The case does, however, pick up fingerprints and smudges easily, and appears that it will scratch easily as well (one small one so far). Unfortunately, it does not come with a pouch or slipcase which is unfortunate given that the goal of these devices is portability.
4. Usability - Out-of-the-box, this drive is formatted using NTFS. If you're a Windows user this is fine. If you use a Mac you will want to reformat it to HFS+, which is accomplished easily enough. If you use both Mac and Windows like me, or want to easily share files with friends of different OS persuasions, you'll probably want to format it to FAT-32 (thereby limiting your maximum size for any given file to 4GB). If you're using Linux, you're on your own ;) In any case, when you plug the Neso in, the system recognizes it as it would any other USB hard drive, and it includes no preloaded software/shovelware. While operating, the case becomes noticeably warm. Not hot enough to fry an egg on, but warm enough that you don't want to leave it in direct sunlight copying files for three hours (Although I did exactly that and it's still alive!).
5. Longevity - I just got mine today, so who knows? But here's hoping ;)
