How technology has got better
Bought this as a Christmas present for the other half who had little positive to say about our existing prosumer digital camera.
Despite its low price this camera beats the other device by a good way - much to my relief!
She is now taking loads of images the only downside is that alkaline AA batteries do not last very long. Partly a function of more flash photos being taken but possibly due to the image stabilisation which we have switched on at all times.
The supplied 16Mb memory card is only good for about 7 images at max resolution and so a bigger card is a must. 1gb is plenty and should hold nearly 500 images before needing to be downloaded or swapped out.
We have not had much success with downloading to the supplier Canon browser software via the supplied camera/ pc lead but a memory card reader works fine.
To sum up - a super little camera which deliver excellent jpeg images.
excellent
bought this little gem one month ago onadvice from what digital camera magazine (got 90% top mark being 91%). best buy ever , perfect for the non-professional ,great zoom, manual functions and quality of pics. am actually glad about aa feature as you would have to buy an expansive li-ion battery as a back up battery wheras you can get aa rechargables very cheaply. feels a bit cheap but when you compare the same features with a meatl body (double the price) it doesnt matter at all.
in summary excellent little camera
Loving This Camera
I've had mine for a few months now and really enjoy it. This is my 7th digital camera. I sold a Canon SLR and got this one as I couldn't get on with the large size but still wanted something that felt substantial. As it uses AA's it gives it the extra weight I want. The zoom isn't as high as my SLR but the macro setting is better and I take more of the close-ups. I like the flash level can be adjusted which wasn't available on a Panasonic I had and greatly needed. The sepia setting on this camera is a particularly lovely colour.....easy to use and has a big "grippy" part to help steady it although it DOES have image stabilization anyway. I usually take pictures using the vivid colour setting as it's much more effective.
Don't notice a huge difference utilising the pets setting for my dogs, nor the portrait setting, but I've never used these on other cameras either as I'm yet to see them do anything special. A cracking camera overall at a bargain price. Prints turn out beautifully too.
