I’m a big fan of cast iron cookware – and this product does not disappoint. It met every expectation I had of a cast iron.
I really enjoy cooking with cast iron due to its vast benefits – it’s very solid (this one is extremely high quality), lasts a lifetime and they’re non-stick (so no evening spent scrubbing).
You won’t have to worry about hygiene as the surface the pan is impervious to flavours and odors and hence very hygienic. I’ve found the pot very handy for storing meals in the fridge after cooking. Handy tip – my mum uses her pots for marinating chicken in the fridge before she cooks it.
The above leads onto my next point that the pots are very adaptable, you can use them on almost any heat source, I have an electric hob, they can be chucked into the oven without worry, and what’s best is that they’re dishwasher safe!
But please be aware that if you’re going to buy cast iron you shouldn’t use it on a high heat, the enamel may chip if you do this – plus you get the best cooking results from a medium or low heat. The cast iron holds heat for a long time, so is great for cooking then straight to the table and it distributes heat evenly.
I found this pot very reasonable for the quality you get, it’s a nice piece to my collection and plus it comes with a 10 year guarantee so I’ll be using it for a very long time to come.--Danielle Smith, Amazon.co.uk

Why Cast Iron?
Cast iron is an excellent conductor of heat which ensures an even heat distribution on all heat sources including induction.
Why French Cast Iron? Quite simply it's the best. The Ardennes region of France has been manufacturing premium quality cast iron cookware for generations.
Why Chasseur? Chasseur Cast iron is all hand crafted for consistent quality with a double coating of enamel. The primer coat seals the body while the coloured top coat not only provides an attractive appearance but also adds to the durability of the product and allows easy cleaning. The Chasseur range consists of Round and Oval Casseroles, Saucepans, Oval and Rectangular Serving Dishes and Roasters, Pate terrines, numerous Frypans and Grillpans plus Woks and Fondues.
Why Serving Dishes? Can be used on the hob, in the oven and under the grill for cooking and / or roasting plus ideal for serving. The attractive colourful appearance means they can go straight from the cooker to the table where due to the heat retention of the Cast Iron they will keep your food warm for second helpings. And when you've cooked and served they are easy to clean either in the dishwasher or in hot soapy water.

Chasseur 18cm matt black casserole
When buying this item I was looking for a casserole that could go straight from hob to oven, that would last a good while without starting to look tatty. I chose the matt black as I thought it will always match whatever kitchen pots I get in the future, but didn't realise that the black comes with a black internal finish instead of the cream colour in the photos. It is not a smooth internal finish either, in fact at first I thought I might have a dodgy one without the enamel! So if I decide to buy a bigger one in the future I will buy a different colour which has the smooth cream finish inside.
There are a few very small marks on it that did make me wonder if it is actually factory seconds, but they're nothing serious at all and I paid a very good price!
Cooked my first meal in it last night (chicken casserole) and made sure I kept the heat very low so the meat did not stick as I've read this can be a problem with cast iron. It did stick a little at first, but once the lid was on it steamed itself away from the bottom of the pan and there was no burning. I was cooking for 2 people and found it to be a good size - it was a little too full to stir with ease when the bulky ingredients first went in, but once the veg had simmered down it was perfect and I'm glad I didn't go for the bigger one.
Overall very impressed so far, I'm looking forward to cooking many more dishes in it!
