Fab multi use casserole with great looks
The shallowness of this casserole means that it is ideal for dishes such as coq au vin, meatballs, pheasant in cider and so forth, where you want one layer of food cooking evenly in a layer of delicious sauce. Great for bolognaise sauce too.

It can easily be brought straight to the table where its good looks make it not seem like a cooking pot. Brilliant for making authentic Italian tomato sauces in. When you've scooped out the food, and your pan looks as if it will never return to its pristine self again,a short soak in warm soapy water will return it to sparkling new, no need to scrub and scrape.

Use it to make both savoury and sweet Tarte Tatins, they pop out time after time, after time with no sticking.

The base of the pan is not left with raw cast iron, but coated with the same exterior enamel all the way round the casserole, so no rusty pan lurking in the cupboard to worry about.

Unusually for me, I can find no irritating design faults with this casserole, it fufills all my requirements and more, I love cooking with it, it is a pleasure to use. So I think it deserves a full 5 stars.

Works well on the Aga, start your dish on the top of the cooker then place in one of the ovens. Note the knob on the lid will not tolerate the heat in the roasting oven, but you are unlikley to use it with the lid in this oven anyway.

Quality is excellent, in keeping with all the Chasseur brand. Available in a selection of colours too. A joy to use. Wish I had bought it years ago instead of swithering all this time.

Reasonably easy to wash up by hand although some soaking may be required to shift some of those more stubborn baked-on food remains and a rub with a plastic bristled brush.

fantastic for everyday use and entertaining
This serving casserole dish is such a handy size for a family meal and cooks food evenly without hot spots. Great for induction hob and suitable for all other hobs and oven. Less washing up as meat can be browned on hob with other ingredients then placed in oven to cook.
The pot is heavy especially when full so would be unsuitable for people who have difficulty with arthritis in their hands.
I love the colour and have started collecting the set. A very good buy!
