    THE SIMPLEST BACK-UP SYSTEM5
This may not be the best back-up system, but it must be the simplest.

On my PC, I have a large library of photographs, family-related history, and more documents than I care to count. I knew I should back them up, and my one past attempt using an extrenal hard disc was so tiresome I eventually gave up. I then tried putting my documents onto DVD's which is fine but time-consuming. The crash of a friend's PC made me look for an alternative, and I happened to see a review of Clickfree in a magazine. It is not the cheapest solution, but the promise of simplicity was persuasion enough.

This really does what is says on the label. You plug the small device into your USB socket, and that's it! The initial back-up took nearly 5 hours, but now I back up weekly (a discrete pop-up reminds me) and it takes 5 - 10 minutes.

I promise you, it could not be easier.

    Does the Business!5
Like another reviewer of this product, all went well until the backing-up process was interrupted by Vista telling me this program needed permission to continue. After clicking to give permission, the programme crashed. Unlike the other reviewer, I found technical support most helpful. You unplug and replug the drive, but press the 'options' button before the back-up process starts. You then choose the 'tools' button, and click on the 'software update' button. After the update downloads and installs, you are told to unplug and replug the drive. This time Vista again tells you that the program needs permission to continue, but when you click to give permission, the back-up continues with no further problems. Now that this hiccup has been dealt with, I am very impressed with the Clickfree Backup Drive.

Fantastic product - shame about a Vista User Account Control bug4
I bought the Clickfree HD225 on a friend's recommendation, to back up 2 computers at home. It worked like a dream on my wife's Windows XP computer, but kept crashing on my Vista Home Premium laptop. The backup programme started, but was interupted, as all new installed software is, by the User Account Control asking me if I wanted to continue with the programme. I clicked on 'Continue,' and the backup programme aborted - every time, even after a reboot.

The user guide is geared to the back-up working perfectly, and the online website help did not have a solution how to solve the problem. It appears to be a bug in the initiation software.

Eventually I went into User Accounts, and switched off the User Account Control, to the alarm of my laptop. After that the back-up worked fine.

I would recommend the product, but it is a shame about the bug, because for each back-up, I need to switch of User Account Control. With a little bit more testing and improvement in the User help, this would be a truly fantastic product.
