Great bike!
I bought this bike after many years of not cycling, in a bid to regain a level of fitness that I once had.
The bike is a good strong bike and with its 21 gears there is a gear for any situation, the fact it has the mud guards with it is a bonus it saves having to pay extra later on and they do the job well, nothing I hate more than the spray going up my back it makes it a chore rather than an enjoyable experience.
The weight of this bike is good for a full suspension bike as they are notoriously heavy; my son's bike is a 24 inch wheeled bike for an 11 year old is noticeably heavier than this.
The only negative I have about the bike is the pedals! They are not a good quality pedal and mine cracked after just a few miles of hard cycling, so I would suggest a visit to a good cycle shop and a set of alloy pedals would be a good buy.
However, as I said this is the only fault that I have on this bike and for less than £100 it is well worth it.
You get what you pay for
Upon first inspection the bike seemed fine, it was well packaged and in good condition with all the required parts in attendance, however, once we started assembling it we had to admit some of the self assembly would be well past the ability of most amateurs (myself included, my partner has extensive knowledge of cycles). After 3 hours of assembly I finally managed to get out for a ride, the gears are stiff and next to impossible to change unless you are on a flat surface which was a real problem because I live in a hilly area, the grip shifts take up most of the hand room on the handlebars, thus your weight is constantly on th outside of your hand which aches after a while, the pedals have nearly no grip and the saddle is sheer torture after 10 miles. I perservered, after all I had not been on a bike for over 21 years and assumed I was to blame for not being able to ride it properly, on it's second outing the bike developed a really annoying creak which appeared to be coming from the frame around the rear suspension, after tightening and adjusting all mounts and pivots as per the instruction book, the creak was still there and appeared to be getting louder. We took it to our local independent cycle shop who refused to help once they saw it was a Barracuda, allegedly they had a mass recall 2/3 years ago for collapsing bushings, he also said if I managed to get a working replacement he would not be prepared to do the annual service for me as they can never get parts. I have returned this bike and puchased a new Triumph cycle, I did not realise how rubbish the Barracuda was until I saw it up against the Triumph, then when I rode the Triumph the difference was unbelievable, smooth gear changes, comfortable saddle somewhere for my whole palm and no creaking.
Brilliant bike, Brilliant amazon.
Arrived very well packaged with every part wrapped up tight and tied to ensure no damage during transit. Sent with my trial of amazon prime and received in super quick time. Easy to set up with a fast release front tire. But be warned the instructions are a bit vaque and dont mention the mud guards but the bike is soo easy to put together you dont need to worry about it.
