Editorial Reviews
CD Description
The undisputed Queen of Pop, Madonna, releases her third definitive best of collection 'Celebration', after almost three decades of defining the cultural landscape with her own imitable style; this collection inspired by the fans is destined to be every bit as iconic as the 'Immaculate Collection'.From 'Holiday' to '4 Minutes', every song is a classic and is a must for every music collection. Includes new songs 'Celebration' and 'Revolver' with Lil' Jon.

Hit and Miss
Unfortunately, this album (although a greatest hits compilation) is abit of a 'hit-miss' because its not a true retrospecive of her career and its also not a complete discography either.
I don't understand why so many tracks, already included on her other two 'best of' albums, are included again here - surely it would have made more sense to include tracks not previously featured on The Immaculate College and GHV2, so that fans can have a definitive collection of her chart singles.
I'm also amazed at how poorly her 1990's career release's are represented here, only a handful of tracks across three albums (Erotica, Bedtime Storey and Ray of Light) - why has so much track space been given to her early 80's and more recent hits?
Its a true mystery too why such wonderful Madge tune's such as 'Rain', 'Nothing Really Matters', 'This Used To Be My Playground' and 'True Blue' as well as a few others, have been consistently ignored both on this and previous Hits albums.
Who doesn't love Madonna though, and wouldn't appreciate a trek back through her wonderful career? Its just a shame that this collection, if encompassing songs from her previous two Greatest Hits collections, wasn't more developed and providing a fuller (if not complete!) history of her chart tracks up to her current release 'Celebration'.
3-stars - could've been better!
It Was Never Going To Please Everyone...
An impossible task, I think, for Madonna to compile a career-spanning collection. Include all her singles, somebody would call it bloated. Only include her biggest hits, some would point out the ommissions. As it stands, Celebration strikes an even balance between the two. Yes, there are songs I enjoy that are absent, but I won't mention them here. What this functions as best is a launch pad for casual fans to branch out and listen to her previous albums.
Interestingly, Celebration includes all the songs from her first 1990 hits album The Immaculate Collection with the exception of Rescue Me, ultimately superceding that album. Fans who own her second hits collection GHV2 may want to hold on to that album though, since 7 of it's 15 tracks are not on this album. It's clear, then, that Celebration focuses more on Madonna's 80's period than her 90's and 00's period, but the majority of her career is nicely represented here.

The animate...
..polarize me, sensitize me, criticize me, compensate me, complicate me, elivate me and please ANIMATE me....!!- Oh, it's from Rush (Than believes the Rush -text Madonna or my speaker-system believes in this regart to CELEBRATION) - Thank you Madonna for your long, creativ, trendsetting activity and thank you WB for the good over-lable best-off...
The remastering sound is very powerful, detailed all over the 5.1 Channel (the remastering in only in 2.0 - so what?! - only steeereeeooo - so what?! - the sound is amazing fresh multi-channel-like!!! Also the old songs (Madonnas first single from 1983 for the UK-Market in Mai was "Everybody") are sound-dynamic-young-fresh like 2009- SACD-multi-channel... - okay, sometimes the fading-in-fading-off between the songs is like from the "Cutting-Crew" - so what?! - All sounds not "Miles away" but rather as "Holiday" on a "La Isla Bonita" - And pur commerce - so what?! Then don't buy it simply not (sorry, very good english)- there are existing worse commercial-delict's...-Madonna doesn't need your money, but we need your music-confession-on-a-dance-floor
Madonna, the trendsetting pop-icon since the Middle Ages (I remember the last "Wetten-Das"-Show here in Germany in 2006 regarding the Confession-Tour- she came in the FFM-studio with a new kind of "Lackstiefel" - and 1 week later, our Girlies and also our women at work went over our "Königsallee" in Dusseldorf with the same special "Lackstiefel"- the confession of good trendsetting taste...
Is there any performer to be able to recover an old existing music-sequence(Hung-Up-Adba)without to believe the song is abstract from an other location - American Pie (from DonMcLean 1971) -where is the song - oh, I understand, a constitutional problem of new remastering-announcement - Long live (not Rock`N`Roll)the fee-arrangements...
4 stars for the composing of the songs
4 stars for the fading-in-fading-off between
5 stars for the exelent new sound engineering - powerful and channel authenticly
5 stars for the good styling of the douple-cd-cover (popart and informativ concerning the roods of the songs) and the complete song-texts behind the creenprint-head of Madonna (you mast have good eyes to read it during the sing along..) if you can't sing it out off your memory like myself...
5 stars for Madonna and Thank you for your music...
Greeting from Solingen/Germany
