Fantastic!!
I was looking for a reasonable espresso machine with milk frother for making lattes/cappuchinos at home. I work in a coffee shop and know what good coffee tastes like. I did buy a cheaper machine but it was terrible so it went back. I am very impressed with this machine, you get a lovely crema on your espresso, just like the proffesional machines, and the milk frother works splendidly, gives a very nice firm froth that lasts.
I would recommend this machine to anyone, its very simple to use, and not noisy at all like some others, yes you hear the pump for a few seconds but its quite quiet, would have been nice to have gotten a jug with it but can pick these up cheaply!
Great coffee/espresso
I am very impressed with this coffee maker. The coffee is exceptional the machine looks good, too.
It is important that proper ground espresso coffee is used if you want the best results. I have used mine for about three months and have made coffee on an almost daily basis. It's quick and if you're really pressed for time use the ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) sachets (I got a packet of 18 free inside the box with the machine, worth about £4,50).
The price of the machine is very reasonable, too.
Excellent coffee, if you get the right machine...
I was delighted to get one of these last Christmas, and found that as well as looking good, this machine makes very nice coffee indeed. However, after a few weeks it started to leak, so back it went to the shop (it wasn't bought from Amazon) for a replacement. The replacement smelled of new plastic, which I didn't think was a problem, until the coffee started to taste of plastic - and the taste got worse and worse over a month or so. No matter how much I washed the receptacles and bits and pieces, it got worse, and tainted the coffee. Back to the shop, where I got a couple of machines out of their boxes, and gave them a good sniff. One had the same plastic smell, the other didn't, so I asked for that one as a replacement.
This was all a bit of a faff - although the machine is very solidly built, there does seem to be a quality control issue at DeLonghi so really I should take more than one star off - but like I said, it does make extremely nice coffee.
