Setting up the duplex print option on HP Laserjet P2055d with Mac OS X 10.5

First the print quality is great and this is a very nice printer for the money. HP don't provide a USB cable (Why?). Luckily I had a spare one.
I struggled to get this to work out of the box because the install instructions for Mac didn't work for me. In print utility options there was no Duplex box to tick.

This is how I finally got the it working.
1) Install the printer drivers from the CD, or download from HP site.
2) Restart the Mac.
3) Attach printer to Mac with USB cable.
4) Go into System Preferences and add printer.
5) Select something to print. Just about any application will do, I used a page from Safari.
6) In the dialogue page you'll see something like:
Printer: HP Laserjet P2055d
Presets: Standard
Click on the downward pointing arrow (to the left of Printer: HP Laserjet P2055d)
Now tick the checkbox that says Two-sided.
Also click on the box that says Safari, and select the "Layout" option from the dropdown menu.
Now click on the Two-Sided option and select "Long-edge" binding from the drop down menu.
7) Almost there.
8) Click on the presets menu and choose "Save as" from the dropdown menu. I saved mine changes as Duplex.
9) Now print and you should get double sided copy.

This printer works oright in the office I've use this printer alot and I don't have found any problems

Fast and compact no frills B&W printer for office work
I purchased this printer after reluctantly having to dispose of my 15 year old Apple Laserwriter. The HP is very quick and has double-sided, print capability. First impressions are print quality very good although print looks feint in comparison with my old Apple printer and inkjet printers. This may be due to the higher resolution output of the HP.

All in all very pleased with it and good value for money for a general purpose, cheap to run black and white office printer.
