Really works, really worth it.5
I owned a Roomba in the US before moving to the UK and bought this one shortly after I arrived here. It's brilliant! It really works - picks up loads of hair, dust, lint and other junk that I would use a Hoover for. You can set it to do a room and leave it alone. It goes from rug to carpet or hardwood floor and back without a problem. It's small enough to get under my chest of drawers. It may seem a bit loud until you are used to it, but part if the joy of the Roomba is that you can turn it on, leave the room and go do something else (so you don't have to listen to it). I use mine 1-2 times each week in each room and use my "big" hoover once every 3mo in case there is something in the corners the roomba missed (but I have never seen anything with the naked eye). The roomba lets you know when it needs to be recharged and sends out a signal if it gets stuck - this hasn't happened to me with this model yet, but in my old home my first Roomba had problems if it got into my stereo wires. My Roomba is like my mobile. I can hardly remember what it felt like to live without this technology and I never want to go back!

I think this may be in the top 5 inventions of the 21st century! It IS worth the money. You will free up so much time for more important things than hoovering!

Tips: Follow the instructions. Periodically take the brushes out (they detach) and clean them.

Beware1
I bought this machine via Amazon. After 2 months it developed a fault. Because I did not buy from the manufacturer direct they have refused to honour the offered warranty. 'Phone calls and emails have meet with silence. So I'm left with a £200+ machine which does not work and which no-one will repair.iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot

OK while working, but not reliable1
Had one for a bit over a year. On "normal" carpets I found the wheels tend to get blocked with fluff so it stops working during a room, but it mostly works fine if you are prepared to clear as much of the clutter as possible away before you start it going. However, it is VERY unreliable. I've been able to fix a couple of problems, but it has now died. So an expensive machine lasted just a year, and it is proving difficult to find someone local to repair it. Overall cannot recommend.
