Product Description

Mungo was really enjoying his new book Galacticus and Gizmo Save the Universe. The dashing hero, Captain Galacticus, had just been captured by the evil Dr Frankenstinker and things didn't look good. Mungo couldn't wait to find out what happened next, but when he turned over, the last page was missing! Who would foil Dr Frankenstinker's dastardly plan? Who would save the universe now? There was nothing for it – Mungo took a deep breath and jumped into the story . . . and his very own space odyssey! With a lot of courage and a little help from a Vroom-101 spaceship, Mungo saved the day (and the universe) and became the youngest ever member of Star Squadron.

About the Author
Timothy Knapman is both a writer and a playwright and was cast adrift on a boat made of books when he was very small, but made his way to Surrey where he now lives. Adam Stower was washed ashore in Brighton where he studied illustration and still lives with his daughter Mary, a host of seagulls and a slight limp.

I loved reading this book to my daughter and she loves reading it over and over again. Original, intelligent, and funny with wonderful illustrations. Definitely one to keep.

My 2 year old son originally had this book from the library and loved it so much we had to buy it. We read it every night and he now knows it off by heart. It is a real adventure book with great illustrations which they can become engrossed in. Worth every penny

a joy to read, re-read and read once more5
This book is too good to "waste" on children! My 3 year old son is far too young to understand why I smile at the villain squeezing the Milky Way to get milk for his breakfast nor why his nasty case of asteroids brings to mind other discomforts.

Both this Mungo book and its predecessor are illustrated in a cartoon style which is a pleasant change from more traditional picture books. Not only that, "Mungo and the Spiders from Space" has many secondary illustrations which add to the enjoyment of a repeat read. Whereas the first book introduced us to new vocabulary such as cutlasses and sea shanties, this book has introduced my son to humour on the page. Its the first time he's spontaneously laughed at an illustration in a book! The story invites flights of imagination, inspires parent-child conversations and tests the abilities of even the best oral narrator.

This children's story is a joy to read and should be as essential reading as more traditional tales such as "The Gruffalo" or "Room on the Broom".
