Espresso/Cappuccino
High pressured water is forced through finely ground coffee. The result is an espresso with a strong rich aroma and flavour sealed into the coffee by the thick crema the creamy golden foam on the top. By adding more water to an espresso, a Lungo (long coffee) can be made. Can be used with any brand of ground coffee or E.S.E soft pods* *Easy Serving Espresso soft pods are specially designed to give you a great tasting espresso with no mess and no fuss.

Cappuccino
With the high quality stainless steel frothing arm you can create the perfect cappuccino. Cappuccino's are made up from three parts: 1/3 freshly made espresso, topped with 1/3 hot steamed milk finished with 1/3 of frothed fresh milk. Plus of course a fine dusting of powdered chocolate or cinnamon over the top. The frothing arm can also produce hot water, ideal for making tea.

Unique Krups Thermoblock technology heats water on demand; This system is fast which enables complete temperature accuracy (very important in making good quality coffee) and also reduces limescale build up.

Filter coffee
For those who value the perfect cup of filter coffee, this is the appliance for you! Good unless you want cappuccino - Updated
Bought this recently from Amazon and for espresso and filter coffee it can't be faulted - espresso especially easy and authentic. Only 3 stars at the moment though as the cappuccino is somewhat disappointing: the milk frothing arm does not seem to froth milk at all well, which is essential for cappuccino in my opinion - it heats it through, which is good for latte, but try as I might I can't get it to froth the milk.

Update 1st June 2008: Not long over a year since I bought it and the machine has now broken - water comes pouring out of the bottom of the espresso side of it when it's used. Got to mark it down further, therefore, in terms of reliability (which is disappointing) - and I never did manage to get decent froth from it either.

Looking at different makes this time round for a replacement.

This is just the perfect maker.
We purchased one some time ago and it is brilliant. Used with quality coffee and skimmed milk it makes the ideal cappuccino. Its nozzle isn't much good at frothing milk any thicker.

The machine makes coffee to die for and equally for such little money in the world of coffee makers. Early to say but if this is the last purchase you make this year you wont be dissapointed!

Practice makes perfect
Very pleased with this purchase a little persistance and practice delivers great espresso.
I found that using 'full fat' milk (Blue top) provides a bright white froth where as semi-skimmed is just hard work and doesn't really react.
I think it takes some getting used to as the steamer needs to be at the bottom to heat the milk through then just under the surface to create froth. If you get big bubbles you're to high.
not sure if the steamer is designed only to come on for about 30 seconds as after this time the heating light comes on and water comes out until it's at the right temperature again.
