warped
we bought ours from John Lewis. The lid warped within a month, very frustrating. I took it back to the shop, who were evidently aware of the issue because Nigella had prepped them with a whole batch of extra lids, apparently in expectation of my (and others') visits. I took the new lid home but this warped within only a few days. Life then became too short so I took the whole thing back for a refund, readily given. Shame, because it looks lovely - but with a warped lid, it's pointless!

PERFECT BREADBIN
Reluctant though I am to add to Nigella's millions, I have to admit that this is the best bread-bin on the market. The lid doubles up as a cutting board, and it fits tightly enough for bread to last longer than usual. It's a pretty colour and a sensible shape, as you can fit two loaves in with ease. The price is ridiculous, but then having had three others all of which were hopeless I suppose it is worth it.

Looks good but not airtight
I have to say, although this is a lovely looking breadbin, the lid is by no means airtight. We have had this since June 2005 and actually asked for a replacement lid as the first one we had warped in the summer heat and so wasn't keeping the bread fresh. However, the replacement is still not a flush fit but this is not too much of a problem when the weather is cooler.

So 3 stars averaged overall - 4 for looks but 2 for effectiveness.
