Small is Beautiful - And so are the Results!4
Nikon Coolpix S550 Digital Camera - Urban Black (10.0MP, 5x Optical Zoom) 2.5" LCD is a great camera to carry with you wherever you go. It fits in a handbag or trouser pocket and means you never miss a shot again.

The night-time portrait setting works very well. We've held the camera at arm's length and taken photographs of ourselves with the sunset behind us.

Its zoom function is pretty impressive, too, and even when the images are printed up at A3 they still look good.

The only setting that doesn't seem to work so well is indoor portraits. They come out grainy.

Overall, though, if you're looking for a versatile camera to carry with you all the time, this one is worth considering.

    Nikon can do better3
I bought this product keeping in view the fact that its a NIKON but unfortunately it failed to live up to its name - The pic quality aint that good for indoor shots - it looks as if the camera has confused it self in the ISO setting and the pics always turn out to be grainier then expected. Over all i am satisfied as i am stuck with this for the time being but I am sure i wuld have getten a better quality pics with an Olympus.

    Not Impressed2
I recently swapped a relative for one of these, thinking I would get the better end of the deal (more megapixels, great zoom capacity, and a newer camera). I lucked out on this arrangement. I can see why said relative was eager to ditch the camera.

The camera does not have the same ease of operation. It takes a long time for the equipment to process the digital image and present it for review, or to ready the camera for the next picture to be taken.

There are too many menu settings to operate to get from one setting to another.

I'm still to find a 'user preference' setting where I can set up my own defaults and manage the camera from this point. For example, I often like taking black and white pictures and am used to setting this up as a one-touch button operation. It's sadly lacking in this camera.

The rechargeable battery runs down quickly.

I'm disappointed with the any indoor shots that don't require a flash. All too often I need to use the flash as the pictures are too blurred. And the flash is then hopelessly inadequate.

The 5x zoom is not all that. It's disappointing and the camera struggles to focus correctly on very close-up shots. I end up with the subject being out of focus and something obscure in the background being in focus.

On the plus side, the camera takes better pictures than what the LCD displays.
