supreme portability
if, like me, you don't listen to radio and like me you own lots of cds,and you like to play your music in the bathroom or garden then this is the product for you. i have had three of these 20w panasonics in the last 5 years.the batteries last 50 hours+ on loud cd. their is no product out there that comes close to the awesome wattage of this machine, in fact iv'e seen boom boxes at £80 with 2w per channel, nothing compares to the price, portability and power of this musical marvel. sorry i don't listen to cassettes,why would i in this day and age and the drivel from radio djs ugh, so can't really comment on those features,so if its just for your cd collection, played loud with no distortion absolutely anywhere you like, then this is for you.......i can assure you, you wont be disappointed.......enjoy

Excellent Unit
I got this as a bedroom clock radio - so I needed something with sleep and alarm, and importantly to be able to set the volume at which the alarm would start. Some units just start the alarm with the volume you last listened at. The sound is pretty good, though the presets for the equaliser ar limited and the widesound option is not worth bothering with. Plays MP3 and normal CDs perfectly well.

Horrible background static, worst electronic product I have ever purchased!!!
I purchased this particular model, because it had all the features I required: Digital tuner, FM/AM radio & station presets, Cassette Deck, CD player, ability to play mp3's and remote control.

Upon receipt switched the radio on, FM & AM reception has major static (constant background hiss), that makes any radio station UN-LISTENABLE!!!!!! Even with the "mono" setting that Panasonic suggest in their manual doesn't improve sound quality enough to be bearable on talk-based stations, opera stations etc

Since two cheap £10 boombox/radios I own have excellent, crystal clear reception which indicates the signal strength is good enough. I can only surmise that there is something fundamentally wrong in the design of Panasonic RX-ES29EB-S

What is worse is that I tested an audio CD and you can hear some of the static sound in the background!!!!!

This product is not fit for purpose!!! Immediately returned to Amazon, and have purchased my second choice from another maker.
