A great competitor to the iphone...and on pay as you go...4
Before getting this phone i had several worries, mainly the touch screen and texting. However having owned the phone for a day i already feel confident with the texting and can text faster then on my old phone, a normal motorola slider. And the touch screen works fine, no worries on that front.

The camera is slower then what i expected but this is to take into account its 5 megapixel quality. However the patience required can be testing, especially if you want an immediate picture.

The mp3 feature is great and has plenty of memory to make this a competent back up to losing an ipod etc.

Finally the phone has plenty of other features to make it a competent package, like an FM radio, though i do feel the widgets are a bit pointless and could have been more interesting. Also a big problem is you can't send mass messages to more then 10 people at a time. This can make sending your new number etc to your contacts a long and boring task.

Overall though it's a great phone and you will not be dissapointed, and it's look are sure to attract attention. What i believe makes this better then the iphone is the fact it can be bought unlocked and needs not a contract, unlike o2's monopoly of the iphone with over-the-top prices.

Not as good as the hype suggests.3
I've had this phone now for around 4 months. Its been thoroughly road tested.
    Good Points -
Sound Quality is tremendous for both MP3's & voice conversations
Touch screen has just about the right level of sensitivity & the haptic feedback is cool.
    The radio has great reception
The phone is very intuitive - you'll be through the menu's in no time.
The camera is actually very good - its claim to 5mp has been doubted because when you view the pictures you've taken on the camera they look rubbish. transfer them to your computer though and they're fine.

    Bad Points -
For a phone with such a good camera the ability to edit photo's on the phone is very limited.
There are no games (at the moment) designed specifically for the phone. All you get now is an arrow pad cutting off 1/2 an inch at the bottom of the screen.
Compatibility - I've found it won't open certain file types that it should (eg i have 2 jpegs. It will open one & say 'unsupported file format' for the other)
Limited Customisation - Sure you can change the wallpaper & Ringtones but you cannot change your screen saver & you can choose from two colour schemes.
Widgets - The widgets are cool, i'll give you that but you can only use widgets samsung allow you to. It would be nice to pick other shortcuts or even other applications a la iphone.

This review doesn't cover everything, just my major gripes & pleasures.
I'd say if you want a phone that looks great and sounds great - go for this.
If your looking for an equivalent to an iphone, then dont bother. Its not worth the money due to lack of toys & customisation.

    I quite like this phone.......4
Having been a very satisfied Samsung G600 user for 18 months and due for an upgrade I faced a dilemma. Do I just get another G600 or do I go for something a bit different.???

A very nice 'phone trainer' in the Orange shop at Redcar in Cleveland, helped me choose the Tocco as a free upgrade. My G600 is now sold on a well known internet auction site.

In the words of Take That ,this phone just needs a little patience, but then after using a particular model for 18 months what can you expect. I was a bit doubtful about a touch screen phone but actually the Tocco is very easy to use.

You just need to master 2 things - the delay until the the screen locks, you will find you need a bit longer than the default, however, I easily sorted that in an hour or so.

Next one the Text message alert, Google was my friend here, the 'getting started manual' was useless for this, you do it from profile settings.
Now I've done this, really happy.

The camera - jury out to be honest, it's 5mp, but the flash is very bright at close range and dim at mid range, need to experiment and post back an update. Probably better in daylight I would expect.

Would I buy new for £275 as it is on Amazon at 11pm on the 30th Dec 2008??? - I don't really think so, would I go for a free upgrade as I did on my Orange contract, definitely.

UPDATE - camera seems fine now.

Just one more thing to add. Make sure you - or if buying in store the agent removes all the protective film from ALL the phone parts. The Tocco comes supplied with a protective film fitted to the main body under where the battery cover fits at the bottom edge of the phone. This means the battery cover will fit BUT it is then very difficult to remove if you need to.

Google Tocco battery cover removal to see other users having the same problem - when you kow what causes it it's easy to sort, remove the tiny strip of protective film and you'll find the problem sorted!!!

    Still a nice phone though...
