Samsung SyncMaster SM2032BW5
My trusty Samsung SyncMaster 172T 17" was beginning to look a bit small...

Having owned the Samsung brand before, I had every confidence in buying another one.

The SM2032BW did not let me down. It is a strikingly good looking piece of hardware for starters, but the sleek, black, glossy finish is only part of the story.

This monitor is astonishingly crisp and clear. Game playing is fast due to the 2ms response time but my primary use is for DTP. I can get two A4 pages side by side quite comfortably.

I use the DVI connection on my Mac and the VGA on my PC. With a one-button press I can switch from one machine to the other, instantly. No need for two monitors on the desk!

I have had several monitors over the years, CRT and Flat Panel and this one rates, in my opinion, very highly.

If you are looking for a good all-round 20" flat panel at a good price - look no further. Recommended!

Brilliance5
Once again, Samsung have made another top quality screen at a superb price.
Not only does the screen look amazing when off, then, when you turn it on, an auroa of brilliance surrounds it.
Crisp and Clean images know no boundary on this brilliant screen.
Perfect for Gaming. Fantastic for the PS3 (requires HDMI to DVI adapter).

A good monitor for a web-designer?5
I bought this monitor for the fact that you can connect it to a mac and a PC at the same time, and switch between the mac desktop and the PC one with the press of one button, as mentioned in a previous review. Having looked at several cheap-end-of-the-market monitors I paid a few extra pounds to get this one. As a web designer I'd recommend this monitor for anyone who needs to see their designs on both PC and mac as they work, without a lot of faffing around. (Previously I had Boot Camp on a mac and inevitably got tired of rebooting the computer everytime I needed to take a look in windows. Please note that I bought a s/h PC, this is a standalone monitor, not a computer). The screen quality is more than adequate for this purpose. Took me about five minutes to learn my way around the menu, then spent another five minutes adjusting the colour via RGB to match that on my main screen, which is a Formac Gallery. Now when looking straight on at the screen the image quality for the desktop is virtually indistinguishable from the Formac, which is a superior monitor and three times the price. Switching to windows I found I didn't need to adjust any settings. It looks just fine on both platforms. The PC to Mac switch is its best feature for me, really great. If your PC times out and goes to sleep the screen will swap over to your Mac, assuming you've enabled the desktop extension on the Mac.

I found no disclolouration at all either at the top and bottom as mentioned by a previous reviewer. Nor are there any dead pixels. If you stand up and look down on the monitor the whites have a blueish cast. If you stand off to one side and look at 45 degree angle the screen has a golden sheen to it, so if you need to look at your computer at an oblique angle, better go for something twice the price. I have my screen slightly raised because it is sitting on top of a horizontal computer base and it looks fine like that. I notice if I raise my seat so my eyes are level with the top of the screen and sit closer to it than I normally would the whites in lower part start to have a slight turquoise shade, but if you view the screen at the correct distance and height then there are no differences in any part of it. I wouldn't expect anything else from a monitor at this price. (Check the viewing angle statistics in specs)

This monitor is as quiet as a mouse, is fairly sturdy and the surround is both stylish and inconspicuous. Only trouble I had was getting the monitor to slot onto its stand. It was very stiff and I was afraid of breaking it. This bit was tricky so be careful. It does work as it says it should.

Can't comment on video or games as I don't use it for that. Other reviews cover these topics.

In summary, the picture is crystal clear, contrast is excellent, it has a wide colour scope for adaptability, easy to set up (didn't even look at the manual), easy to work with across both platforms and no trouble at all. Haven't noticed any flicker or unusual tiredness or eye-strain and I've been using it for a week. (Funnily enough when trying to take a video shot of the screen the Formac was flickering more than this one, through the camera) Very happy with it, especially for the money, thanks Amazon.
