About the EM-SL50S
This 25 litre microwave oven is the perfect mid-sized unit for families. It has numerous power levels, keeping you in complete control of your cooking, as well as a digital timer, so you know exactly how long your food still has to cook for. It also has a child lock for added safety. The SL50S is stainless steel in appearance too, so will fit perfectly in the modern kitchen.

Stainless steel inside and out
There doesn't seem to be much information on this page, so here's some.
This is a fairly standard microwave oven without a grill. It measures 345mm deep x 480mm wide x 280mm high. So, while it's described as 'family sized' it isn't vast. Pretty standard I'd say.
The main reason I bought it was the stainless steel interior. My previous microwave rusted badly inside despite being taken good care of. This won't! It's stainless steel on the outside too, the whole casing. This gives it a nice 'industrial' look that should fit in with any kitchen. It looks quite expensive, but there are a couple of rough edges to the finish if you look close (though nothing to worry about really). The top panel is very flexible and feels a bit flimsy. Perhaps this is to discourage you from putting things on it and blocking the vents.
It has an LCD to display the clock and time settings. The display is 'alpha numeric' and 'talks' you through some settings. The display is brightly back-lit, but only while you're using it - in stand-by mode the clock is shown but in my kitchen, you can't see the time without peering closely because the display is too dark.
These are the functions:
Kitchen timer - a simple timer that beeps once (rather quietly) when the number of minutes and seconds you set is up.
Defrost - you set the weight and whether it's meat or poultry. The microwave works out the time.
Delay start - just what it says.
Multi-stage cooking - you can set three consecutive time/power combinations. Useful for frozen meals that you have to heat for two lengths of time at different settings. A zero power setting for this might have been handy.
Lock - you can prevent children from using it. Although it wouldn't take most kids long to figure out how to defeat the lock.
Power - you set the power in several steps from 80W to the full 900W.
Plus there's the main dial for setting times. You also push this dial in to start cooking.
Quick start means you just press the dial once for every minute you want it to cook and it immediately starts doing it (at full 900W power). This is very handy and often used.
The main dial is also to access the presets for things like potatoes and what they call 'dinner', amongst other things. I suppose it's okay if you've no previous experience of using a microwave (is there anyone?) but most people will set the time themselves the manual way.
There's a light inside when the oven is working.
Overall, a nice looking, fairly minimalist microwave that's easy to use and best of all, stainless steel inside and out.
Sanyo EM-SL50S
Good microwave. Does everything well and a good price. very minor points: The clock isn't back lit and only lights when being used, which can be a pain if you need a cloack in the kitchen! Also doesn't have the ability to key in a cook time, you have to spin the start knob to do this, which can be a little annoying. Otherwise a good buy.
Excellent microwave!
This is a 900 watt 25L microwave which is quite spacious. Looks great in my kitchen! Easy to clean the interiors as it's stainless steel inside and out.
I'm yet to figure out how to set the cooking time beyond 2 mins....
