for scrabble addicts
This is rummikub for scrabble players.
Imagine a freeform scrabble where you can rearrange all the tiles on the board at each turn, as long as you add new letter tiles. This is it! There are similar frustrations when you have a word in mind but your plan is wrecked by the moves of the player before you, and the same 'high' when you clear your rack and earn double points.
For a fun variation try !!TXT!! - The aim at each turn is to add more tiles into play and arrange them all to make a complete mobile phone txt msg. If u also have rummikub (number) u can throw in sum numbers 4 fun. Score points for inventiveness and humour.
Rummikub Word
If you've ever played Scrabble and thought "I could do a fandabidozey word if only I had a...." then Rummikub Word is for you. Once you have played a six letter word (or more), you can start re-arranging as many of the words on the table as you like. Get rid of all your letters and your score DOUBLES. I cannot express how much I love this game. Be warned, however ITS ADDICTIVE! The box says 2-4 players/teams but I regularly play it on my own to see if I can get a higher score than before.
Rummikub Word variations
As avid players of number Rummikub we discovered the Word version. While waiting to acquire a Word Rummikub game we used the letters from a Scrabble set which led us to score using the Scrabble value for each letter. Thus the highest scoring word is not neeccessarily the longest. We have found this more fun. I have written the value of the letter on the bottom of the tiles in indelible pen.
We have played with a theme where every word has to relate to the chosen theme. This is harder than it would seem. Try it, it's totally adictive. Make up your own variations.
