Media Studies
"Media Studies" is the middlebrow tabloids' shorthand for the courses your kids do when they're not smart or hardworking enough to get onto a proper course.

But there's obvious value to a critical study of the media. Media or cultural studies often crosses many disciplines, bringing in elements of art history, linguistics, literary theory and sociology; as such it appeals particularly to generalists rather than those who like to specialise.
