Amazon.co.uk Review
The original GameCube version of Resident Evil 4 was universally considered to be the best game of 2005. It completely reinvented what had begun to be a fairly stale series, in the process becoming one of the most accomplished third person action games ever seen and certainly the most cinematic. The subsequent PlayStation 2 port did a very good job of almost matching the graphical quality of the GameCube version, while also adding in a number of extra features, including an extra five bonus chapters as the mysterious Ada Wong.
This new Wii version is essentially a combination of the two previous games, with new motion controls added in. The means you get the superior graphics of the GameCube version (now in 16:9 widescreen for the first time) and all the extras from the PlayStation 2 games, including the Separate Ways bonus sections with Ada.
Although no one’s going to complain about all of the above (especially as the GameCube version is now very difficult to get a hold of new) the big question is how the controls work on the Wii remote. The answer is surprisingly well, with the remote used to aim directly on screen like a light gun and the nunchuk employed for moving around. It’s not too dissimilar to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and proves again that the Wii can handle games with more complex controls perfectly well if called upon. All of which means this is the definitive version of what is unquestionably one of the very best action games ever made.

new to gaming? new to wii? wonder will it keep your attention??
I looked at the reviews on Amazon and a couple of other gaming websites to see what games they recommended....and this game Resident Evil seemed to crop up again and again. I was buying it for my brother in law as a Christmas gift and though there was a risk that he'd already have it, I thought it was worth the risk as the reviews were so good I was thinking offloading it to some other willing gamer wouldn't be a problem. As luck would have it, he hadn't a copy of it and had never played. I think he was a bit sceptical about it and seemed to have his heart set on another game series that he had bought previously. The family gathered round on lazily on Christmas night I was expecting to stay for a dutiful half an hour and then get bored.....
how wrong could I be?!!!! within minutes we were transfixed!!! My husband and brother in law were particularly hooked - taking it in turns to complete a chapter / level...when one was killed off the other took an attempt to pass onto the next stage of the game.....they played about 14 hours over the course of 2 days and only for family and social committments, my guess is that they'd have stayed at it longer!!
The graphics and storylines were excellent. I'm no great judge as I don't play many of these kinda games but I have seen graphics on other games that are only 'ok' and have seen games that are not quite so addictive...this one takes beating.
just one thing, the violence levels are significant at times....it's not one for kids for sure. I would think the rating of 15 and over is probably accurate.
this was WELL worth the money.....and I'm positive my brother in law apporoved of his Christmas present.
How to make an allmost perfect video game
WOW. I think this game has nearly completely dominated my last year on Wii. This game is the main reason that the "wii has no hardcore" games argument used by sony fanboys is dead. this game is the reason that everyone whos played it scared of spanish biologists. and this is the reason why capcom are working so hard to top it in RE5.
In one word: AWESOMENESS.
Simply Amazing And Fun, Well...
Amazing, 1. Graphics 9/10 sound 10/10(scary) characters 10/10 shooting abilities 9/10 fun or what... 11/10, in my opinion the best game on wii, usually there aren't many good shooting games on wii, but this is simply amazing, I've got a ps3 and xbox 360 and some of the shooting games on them are ok, but resident evil 4 wii edition stands out from all of the other shooting games on ps3 or xbox 360. This is not just a shooting game, this is Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition (Wii).
